The Housing Finance Conference & Exhibition returns after a 2 year break on March 16th & 17th. It is being held at the ACC in Liverpool and ODCGIS will again be supporting the event and will be on Stand 611.
GIS offers cost savings by allowing staff to work more efficiently and giving accurate information for the letting of contracts. For example, you can save on average between 10-15% on your grounds maintenance contract by having your GM data captured in a GIS. Walsall Housing Group were able to report a saving of 17%!:
“WHG’s grounds maintenance service is currently based on the 2012 open tender exercise in which approximately 1.6 million m2 of land across the borough was estimated for inclusion in the service. This equates to current budget provision of approximately £1.1m per year. Due to the growth of WHG assets over the years it was anticipated that the area would increase to around1.7 million m2 . On the contrary, the ODC mapping exercise concluded that the current area totals circa 1.45 million m2. This has resulted in a 17% saving on the estimated budget increase. Instead of budgeting circa £1,166,000 we have been able to reforecast budgetary spend to circa £970,000.”
Steve McGregor – Neighbourhood Services Manager
GIS can also offer savings by planning maintenance and repairs, save on site visits, creating lettings profiles or producing Sales Plans at a significant saving from using a solicitor.
ODCGIS also offer a ’No Win-No Fee’ service, claiming compensation for electrical apparatus positioned on or close by your property. The process involves identifying potential claims through GIS before negotiating with the electricity board to get the best level of compensation.
Advance Housing in Witney had such a property in Nottinghamshire and after a period of negotiation were offered £20,000 which was accepted:
“We are really pleased with the outcome and will re-invest this additional money in our homes and services. The whole process went smoothly and required minimal input from us, so didn’t impact on our normal working. I would recommend this service to any housing association, why wouldn’t you do it? It’s a straightforward way to secure better value from your assets.”
Ian Gilders — Executive Director of Housing
Craig, Rick and Alan will be on the stand both days and will have examples of your data to show you how it works in GIS so make sure you visit us on Stand 611. We will also have our Magician Stephen on hand to entertain you with some magic so don’t miss out. You will be amazed by his magic and hopefully what we show you!
