Craig Godwin

Managing Director

Craig has over 30 years’ experience in the GIS industry. Initially working in local government before moving into the private sector and then starting ODCGIS in 1994. A driven individual with great communication / project management skills and a passion for perfection. Under his leadership ODCGIS is acknowledged as the most respected GIS services organisation in the Housing and Local Government industries.   Away from work Craig enjoys Skiing, Scuba Diving, Charity work and is Squire of Bampton Traditional Morris.  

Rick Thompson

Director of Operations

Rick joined ODCGIS in January 2017 with 15 years-experience in the GIS industry. For the previous 3 years Rick was the GIS Officer for Trafford Housing Trust and before joining Trafford he spent 8 years as the GIS Administrator for Cheshire Police where he successfully managed and implemented a corporate GIS and delivered a CCTV mapping project which attracted national media attention. In his spare time Rick enjoys spending time with his wife and 5 children.

Laura Edwards

Production Manager

Laura joined ODCGIS in November 2020 with 5 years-experience in GIS. Before joining ODC she worked within CYIENT as a Team Leader carrying out work for the Rural Payments Agency. Laura gained a M-Degree in Marine Biology from the University of Bangor, where in her 4th year she stumbled upon GIS and has been working with it ever since.   She is a keen baker and enjoys making cakes for family, friends and work colleagues.

Alan Smith

Sales Manager

Alan has extensive experience in cartography having started out 50 years ago with the MOD. Prior to establishing Global Mapping in January 2002 he spent 23 years in the private sector. He has worked with Craig for the past 20+ years both sharing the same ideals aiming for the best quality with projects and customer service. Alan and his wife Tracy have been involved in many community activities and run an inclusive Drumming and Percussion group to help people’s wellbeing.  Their daughter has recently qualified as a Vet.  

Ian Usher

Account & Sales Manager

Prior to joining the ODCGIS team in September 2024 Ian was Business Development Manager at Cadcorp working with Housing Associations and Local Authorities.  Ian has 20 years’ worth of experience in GIS, having started in the public sector with Medway and Bolsover as GIS Coordinator and Emergency Services and West Yorkshire Police as GIS Manager. In his spare time Ian enjoys competing in triathlons, which keep him training all year round, and spending time with his wife and 2 daughters.

Juliana Carvey

Senior GIS Officer

Juliana joined ODCGIS as a GIS Data Capture Operator 9 years ago. Over the years she has worked on more than 50 projects and has developed into the companies most senior GIS Officer, leading on projects and dealing with the more complex tasks. Juliana previously worked for the London Borough Tower Hamlets Council as a GIS Case Officer, responsible for investigating boundary and landlord disputes, making decisions regarding officially naming and numbering properties, liaising directly with Landlords / business owners, whilst adhering to the formal legal process. In her spare time Juliana enjoys exploring the local areas, sailing, getting involved in eco-build courses

Laura Godwin

Senior GIS Officer

Laura started working for ODCGIS during school summer holidays at the age of 15, carrying out administrative roles. After studying both Geography and Computing at A Level, she then progressed to a Junior Programming role. Since 2019 Laura has been working as a GIS Officer full time after getting an English Literature degree from Reading University.   Outside of work Laura enjoys baking, skiing with family and socialising with friends.

Julia Graves

Senior GIS Officer

After graduating with a degree in Geography, Julia began her GIS career as a Data Enhancement Editor at Ordnance Survey. She then moved to London and worked as a Geospatial Analyst for the Civil Service for 4 years. Julia joined ODCGIS after her dream backpacking trip around South East Asia. When she is not working you will find her cooking up a storm in the kitchen, at music concerts or listening to her ever expanding vinyl collection.

Aidan Daniels

Senior GIS Officer

Aidan graduated from Cranfield with an MSc in Geographical Information Systems after retraining in a field of interest having previously worked within the BMW manufacturing group.   He joined ODCGIS in early 2020 and carries out various tasks including Quality Assurance and Capture.  Aidan enjoys being part of a team, he is methodical in approach to problems with focus on process improvement and sustainable solutions.   Aidan enjoys the outdoors and is a keen cyclist and has a family with two children and two dogs. 

Gethin Evans

Senior GIS Officer

Gethin graduated with a masters degree in Geoscience. He started his career working as a GIS capture operator at Western Power before spending several years in the Surveying industry. 

In his spare time, Gethin enjoys the outdoors (especially back in Wales) and spending time with family, friends and his two dogs.

Catherine Doig

Admin Officer

After graduating from Nottingham University in Industrial Economics, Catherine spent over 25 years working in London for various banks and law firms leading their in-house recruitment teams.  Since moving to Oxfordshire in 2016 she has taken on various local part time roles and joined the ODCGIS Team in 2023. 

Outside of work Catherine enjoys riding her horse, Indiana, walking her two dogs and socialising with friends and family
